Turn the can't into cans - Finding some positive in the chaos




This is most certainly not a 'hey, listen, everything will be fine, let's just look at the positives' blog. There has to be a level of realism to our understanding of this situation. People will be effected in so many ways. Businesses will suffer and struggle, inevitably.


But if we can set ourselves up to minimise the impact and manage each day with more clarity and positivity, we might just get through this with our sanity intact?


A LITTLE EXERCISE


Grab a notebook and pen, make a cuppa and take 10 mins out.


On the left hand side of you paper, make a list of 5 things that you can no longer do in your life or business because of the COVID-19 pandemic


Now on the right hand side, write down a counter to that. But now I can..... Instead I can .....


For example:


1. At the moment I am not able to deliver my workshops to my customers....... But now I am able to take these workshops online and potentially reach and even wider audience.


2. At the moment I am not able to get hold of the ingredients I need to make our favourite dishes at home......But instead I can explore new recipes


3. At the moment, I am not able to sell my products because everyone is worries about their own income....... But I can use this time to refine my production methods and save on costs




CREATE YOUR NEW ACTION PLAN


Based on these counters to all the things you're not able to do right now, you can start to form your action plan of tasks you can be doing instead. It doesn't need to be complicated but having a plan with give you clarity and focus and help you move your business forward in this very difficult and unprecedented time.


NOTICE HOW YOU FEEL


How do you feel after creating this little list? Can you move forward with motivation and deal with the difficult situations knowing things don't have to stop?


This is by know means a fix all activity, far from it. But it will help you move from anxious and potentially irrational thoughts ( nothing wrong with this, it's how out mind works ) to a more positive state.


We must must must look after our mental health right now. We need to be strong to deal with whatever crap comes our ways over the coming months. And I am not advocated burying our heads in the sand, the effects will hit us for sure, but we can arm ourselves now with the tolls and strategies to get through it.
